FIGURES FOR THE NUMBER OF FOOD PARCELS PROVIDED BY SLOUGH FOODBANK DURING 1 – 31 August 2020, COMPARED WITH THE SAME PERIOD IN 2019.
Total number of food parcels: 335, a 20% decrease
Number of adults: 234, a 4% decrease
Number of children: 101, a 43% decrease
August is the first month since the Covid-19 pandemic began, where we have seen a decrease in the number of food parcels. We are unable to say for sure what the main reasons for this are but during lockdown, many other community groups set up and supported people with food which eased the pressure on Slough Foodbank being the only one. Additionally, the school meals support was extended, thanks to Marcus Rashford’s initiative, whereas last year during August there was no extra support for families losing out on Free school meals. We feel these are contributing factors.
