FIGURES FOR THE NUMBER OF FOOD PARCELS PROVIDED BY SLOUGH FOODBANK DURING 1 – 31 AUGUST 2024, COMPARED WITH THE SAME PERIOD IN AUGUST 2023
Total number of food parcels: 1039, an 18% increase
Number of adults: 584, a 2.5% decrease
Number of children: 455, a 63% increase

Yet another increase – August was not a happy holiday for our clients. 63% more children were in need of emergency food support during the summer holidays. This increase mean individuals, real people, are going hungry and just don’t have enough to cover the essentials. We mustn’t get complacent We need the government to make changes that last like making sure that the basic rate of Universal Credit is at least enough to afford the essentials we all need, such as food, household bills and travel costs.
