It is deeply sad to see that the number of people needing an emergency food parcel due to food poverty crisis is continuing to increase. In particular the number of children receiving food parcels has increased by 28% indicating the number of families who are facing hardship this winter.
Families are facing the impossible decision between staying warm or buying food. With rising living costs, energy prices at record highs and a cut in the Universal Credit payment, this winter looks deeply uncertain for many. People across the UK are going hungry and skipping meals just so they can pay the bills. This has to stop.
