February stats up 38% versus last year

6th March 2023

FIGURES FOR THE NUMBER OF FOOD PARCELS PROVIDED BY SLOUGH FOODBANK DURING 1 – 28 February 2023, COMPARED WITH THE SAME PERIOD IN 2022

Total number of food parcels: 917 up 38% on 2022
Number of adults: 561 up 39% on 2022
Number of children: 356 up 38% on 2022

These figures once again starkly show the desperate need people in Slough and the surrounding areas are facing.

It is also why we are fully supporting the Trussell Trust’s ‘Guarantee our Essentials’ campaign. As a foodbank we see daily the impact lack of income has – universal credit does not meet the bare essentials. People in Slough are skipping meals and making tough decisions on whether to eat or pay bills.

Universal Credit should offer support to anyone in need of help, but right now it’s not providing enough to cover the cost of life’s essentials, such as food, household bills or travel costs.
