Slough Foodbank Celebrates Volunteers Week 2026

9th June 2026

Three volunteers stand with mugs of tea by a table of food items

Slough Foodbank says Thank You to all our volunteers for their hard work, passion, generosity and loyalty – without them we just simply couldn’t run Slough Foodbank.

We asked our volunteers what motivates them to volunteer and what they enjoy most about it. We’ve highlighted a few of them below …

Two volunteers pose by some crates
Our volunteers Rhiannon and Sheila are a mother and daughter pair. Rhiannon has been with us 4 years and loves meeting lots of different people. Sheila has been with us 3 years and loves working as part of a team

Driver with van
Pearl, our volunteer driver, delivers food parcels to our Distribution Centres where they can be given out to customers and then picks up donations that the public have left in collection bins at local supermarkets for us.

Ruki has volunteered at our Langley Distribution Centre for 4 years and loves meeting people from different backgrounds and being part of a well-organised team.

Duke Of Edinburgh volunteers
Our regular volunteers were ably assisted by a group of teenagers packing food parcels as part of their Duke of Edinburgh award.

Volunteers at Slough Distribution Centre pose with some crates
Our wonderful volunteer team at Slough Distribution Centre, offered a cup of tea, a warm smile and a chat with our clients whilst providing their food parcels.

Volunteer drivers stand by their car
Our brilliant home delivery drivers, Paula and David, took food parcels to the homes of those that aren’t able to come to our distribution centres.

Gerry has volunteered for 4 years and his favourite thing about volunteering is that it allows him to practise his faith by respecting, caring for and assisting our clients.
