FIGURES FOR THE NUMBER OF FOOD PARCELS PROVIDED BY SLOUGH FOODBANK DURING 1 – 31 AUGUST 2023, COMPARED WITH THE SAME PERIOD IN 2022
Total number of food parcels: 878, an increase of 43%
Number of adults: 599, an increase of 49%
Number of children: 279, an increase of 30%
Yet another increase – July and August were not a happy holiday for our clients. These increases mean individuals, real people, are going hungry and just don’t have enough to cover the essentials. We mustn’t get complacent We need the government to make changes that last like making sure that the basic rate of Universal Credit is at least enough to afford the essentials we all need, such as food, household bills and travel costs.
