4th January 2024

FIGURES FOR THE NUMBER OF FOOD PARCELS PROVIDED BY SLOUGH FOODBANK DURING 1 – 31 DECEMBER 2023, COMPARED WITH THE SAME PERIOD IN 2022

Total number of food parcels: 1,159, a decrease of 5%
Number of adults: 727, an increase of 1%
Number of children: 432, a decrease of 13%

December was a busy month, with over 1,159 food parcels being provided. In addition to this we also provided more than 370 Christmas hampers, more than ever before. For some families, the Christmas hampers given out alongside standard food parcels was their only treat this Christmas.

In the winter months, people are under increased pressure to heat their homes. We’re urging the government to make changes that last, like making sure that the basic rate of Universal Credit is at least enough to afford the essentials we all need, such as food, household bills and travel costs. We will be publishing our full year statistics soon which will give greater insight into the support provided by Slough Foodbank throughout 2023.
